Final Thesis

Thesis

A bachelor’s or master’s thesis is a mandatory part of bachelor’s and master’s degree programs; it is a comprehensive academic text intended to demonstrate that the student is capable of independent work with specialized information, an analysis of a problem, and formulating their own conclusions. Its goal is to develop specialized knowledge and skills and to train students to work independently on a large-scale project. It demonstrates mastery of the knowledge required by the bachelor’s (master’s) degree program and the student’s ability to apply it to specific problem solving. The bachelor’s thesis and master’s thesis follow the same basic principles; the difference lies in the scope of the work, its complexity, and the degree of independence required.

Bachelor's thesis

It is written as part of a bachelor’s degree program (typically 3–4 years).
It is the first final thesis at the university.
The goal is to demonstrate that the student can work with academic literature, analyze information, and draw their own conclusions.
It is typically 30–50 pages long.
The result is a Bc. degree.

Master's thesis

It is written as part of a master’s degree program (typically 2 years).
It builds on knowledge gained during the bachelor’s program but requires greater depth and independence.
It should include original research, analysis, or a proposed solution to a problem.
The length is typically approximately 60–100 pages.
Upon successful defence, the student is awarded the degree of Mgr., Ing.
