Outdoor sports department provides teaching, research and other services in the area of sport activities realized in the outdoor environment. It is devided into three departments, which cover the area of winter sports, all season outdoor sports and sport activities connected with water environment. Teaching is mainly realized in a form of courses as invidual subjects are set in concrete environments. The courses are mainly realized in residential centres of the Faculty, some subjects are taught at the Faculty during the academic year.
The department prepares future professionals for leading sport and leisure outdoor activities in schools and leisure institutions. Members of the department, except for traditional sports, follow also new trends in interest about new sport branches. According to their professional specialization they organize courses in a form of optional subjects and in the project „Lifelong learning“, qualification courses are a big part of it. The department also organizes courses for international students of Charles University. Lecturers also teach in the project „University of the third age“. We also organize short „hobby“ events for students´ leisure time through the year.

Physiological and psychological aspects of selected outdoor sports.
Education of outdoor event organizers.
Benefits of outdoor and adventure education programmes and their impact on personal development and health.
Ecological aspects of outdoor education.
Phylogenetical and ontogentical connections of human locomotion. Kinesiology analysis of movement.
Biomechanical analysis of elite sport technique.
Training process aspects in outdoor sports (canoeing, sport climbing, rowing, cross-country skiing, cycling).
Now we have 19 postgradual students doing research at our department.
