Scientia Movens 2026 connected the young scientists with the international community

Published: May 20, 2026

The Scientia Movens 2026 conference, subtitled “Science in Motion & Motion in Science,” took place this year on Friday, May 15, at Tyršův dům in Malá Strana. Thanks to its connection with the TAFISA (The Association for International Sport for All) congress, which was held in Prague for the first time ever this year, the event also offered exceptional international reach.

Master’s and doctoral students from the Czech Republic and Slovakia had a unique opportunity to present their research projects at the Scientia Movens conference, share experiences, and discuss current topics related to physical activity, sports, healthy lifestyles, and sustainability. More than thirty students took advantage of this opportunity and presented their research plans during workshops or through presentations in the poster session.

The conference’s Friday programme was opened with a House of Commons Debate, which was part of the TAFISA International Congress programme. This was followed by a keynote lecture by Manuel González Sánchez from the University of Málaga, who offered an inspiring perspective on current trends in physical activity research and physiotherapy practice. In the afternoon, the workshops were held in the thematic sections focusing on the social, educational, economic, and biological aspects of sport, athletic performance, prevention, and healthy lifestyles.

The Scientia Movens 2026 Student Research Conference once again confirmed that the intersection of science, physical activity, and international collaboration has a firm place in the academic environment and serves as an important platform for the next generation of experts in the fields of sports and healthy lifestyles.

But it was not the only mark our faculty left at the international congress. The students organized the morning activities—stretching exercises, walking, and light jogging. On Saturday afternoon, as part of the free programme and food festival, the faculty also offered City Orienteering, during which participants could explore some interesting landmarks using a map. However, the absolute highlight was the shortened and simplified artistic performance “Four Elements,” under the expert guidance of Bianca Maria Laroëre, Jana Černá, and Kateřina Kolbová, which received a standing ovation during Saturday’s closing ceremony.

The conference was supported by our partners IOCB TECH, KPMG, Decathlon, and Dr. Lambl Vilém Dušan, whom we would like to thank for their support of CU SPORT´s activities.
