RULES FOR THE ORGANISATION OF STUDY

The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Physical Education And Sport
in accordance with §27, para.1, letter b) and §33, para.1, letter of Act No. 111/1998 Coll., o­n universities and o­n a change and completion to other laws (the Universities Act), as later amended,
and in accordance with Art. 29 of the Statutes of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Has ruled o­n the following Rules for the Organisation of Study at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport
As an internal regulation:

Article 1
Initial Provisions

These Rules for the Organisation of Study at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport (hereinafter the "regulation") set out in accordance with Art. 19, para. 1 and 2 and related provisions of the Study and Examination Code of the CharlesUniversity, Prague (hereinafter the University) the requirements for study programmes undertaken at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport (hereinafter the Faculty) and govern details of the organisation of study at the Faculty.

Part I.
Requirements for Bachelor and Masters study programmes according to the Study and Examinations Code of the University

Article 2
Study programme stages
(to Art 4, para.5 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

  1. The stages of Bachelor study programmes are academic years.
  2. The stages of Masters study programmes are academic years.

Article 3
Credit allocation for optional subjects for o­n-going control of study
(to Art. 4, para.10 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

The allocation of the number of credits obtained by a student for completing optional subjects is not stipulated for the purposes of o­n-going control of study.

The number of credits counted for optional subjects throughout the study period may not exceed 10% in the Physical Education study programme and 5% in the Healthcare Specialisation programme.

Article 4
Minimum numbers of credits
(to Art. 4, para.11 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

  1. The minimum number of credits required for registration for the next stage of study is, for the Bachelor study programme:
    a) 90% of the normal number of credits for registration for the second stage of study (i.e. 54 credits)
    b) 88% of the normal number of credits for registration for the third stage of study (i.e. 106 credits)
    c) 86% of the normal number of credits for registration for the fourth stage of study (i.e. 154 credits)
  2. The minimum number of credits required for registration for the next stage of study is, for the associated Masters study programme:
    a) 88% of the normal number of credits for registration for the second stage of study (i.e. 52 credits)
    b) 86% of the normal number of credits for registration for the third stage of study (i.e. 102 credits)

Article 5
Individual study plan
(to Art. 4, para.12 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

Details about the individual study plan are not stipulated.

Article 6
Forms of study, transfers
(to Art. 4, para.14 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

A student may be permitted a transfer:

  1. Between the attendance form and combined form of study within the same field of study
  2. Within the Physical Education and Sport study programme, from the Physical Education and Sport Combined field of study to the Physical Education and Sport with the obligation to complete compulsory subjects and obtain the prescribed minimum number of credits for compulsorily optional subjects in line with an individual study plan
  3. Students of the Military Physical Education study field may be permitted a transfer to the field of Physical Education and Sport o­nly upon completion of their service, that is, their employment in the Armed Forces or Security Services of the state with the obligation to obtain the prescribed minimum number of credits for compulsorily optional subjects in line with an individual study plan.

Article 7
Change to a study plan during suspension of study
(to Art. 5, para.6 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

  1. A student may be permitted to suspend their study during an academic year without having their results examined, up to the end of teaching in the summer term. Suspension of study may be permitted at a later date o­nly o­n the understanding that study requirements for the given stage of study have been met.
  2. If during the suspension there is a change in the study plan which the student was following, he or she will resume following the suspension within the study programme in force at the faculty at the time of resumption. A student is advised of the possibility of a change in the study plan and of the study requirements arising from this at the time of submitting their application to suspend their studies.

Article 8
Right to register a subject
(to Art. 6, para.2 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

The right to register for a subject taught at the Faculty is affected by:

  1. The study plan of the study programme implemented at the Faculty, if for the subject in question the latter requires or excludes registration for a subject in accordance with Art.6 para. 5 letter a), c) or e) of the Study and Examinations Code of the University, if this is a subject categorised as compulsory or compulsorily optional within the study programme in question
  2. Capacity factors in accordance with Art. 6 para. 6 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University; in any such case priority in registering for a particular subject is always given to students who register for it in accordance with a recommended study plan; a list of subjects giving specific capacity limitations is issued by the Dean
  3. Failure to present a doctor's confirmation of fitness to undertake the study of the subject in question within the time limit set by the Dean; a list of subjects whose registration is subject to the presentation of such a confirmation is issued by the Dean.
  4. The subject not being taught in a given academic year because of the low number of students registered.

Article 9
Repeat registration for a subject
(to Art. 6, para.7 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

  1. Repeat registration for a subject which is stipulated as compulsory by the study plan for a given study programme, is possible o­nly o­nce, and that o­nly in study stages immediately following each other. An exception is made for subjects which cannot be completed for reasons of injury. These may be registered o­n the basis of an application and a doctor's report in another stage of study with the same regulations as the previous stage of study
  2. Repeat registration for a subject which is stipulated as compulsorily optional by the study plan for a given study programme, is possible o­nly o­nce, and that o­nly in study stages immediately following each other.
  3. Repeat registration for a subject taught at the faculty which is optional for a given study programme is not permitted, unless otherwise stated in the notes to the subject.

Article 10
Marks record
(to Art. 6, para.10 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

The requirements for obtaining a marks record are given in the notes to individual subjects. A defined part of the marks requirements can be completed o­n two resit dates.

Article 11
Sitting of parts of the state final examinations
(to Art. 7, para.7 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

For the study fields of Physical Education and Sport and Military Physical Education 180 credits must be obtained. A prerequisite is completing all the compulsory subjects and obtaining the prescribed minimum number of credits for compulsorily optional subjects.

For the study field of Management of Physical Education and Sport, to complete the first part of the state Bachelor examination there is a compulsory requirement to obtain 124 credits for compulsory subjects from the first and second stages of study and the Global Economics subject. To complete the second part of the state Bachelor examination, 180 credits must be obtained. A prerequisite is completing all the compulsory subjects and obtaining the prescribed minimum number of credits for compulsorily optional subjects.

180 credits must be obtained to complete the study field of Physiotherapy and Orthotics-Prosthetics. A prerequisite is completing all the compulsory subjects and obtaining the prescribed minimum number of credits for compulsorily optional subjects.

For the study field of Physical Education and Sport Combined, the number of credits for the first part of the state Bachelor examination is stipulated by the study plan of the partner faculty. To complete the second part of the state Bachelor examination, 180 credits must be obtained. A prerequisite is completing all the compulsory subjects and obtaining the prescribed minimum number of credits for compulsorily optional subjects.

The number of credits required to complete the state Masters examination is 120. A prerequisite is completing all the compulsory subjects and obtaining the prescribed minimum number of credits for compulsorily optional subjects.

Prescribed order of the parts of the state Bachelor examination.

Students of Physical Education and Sport and Military Physical Education sit the state final examination o­n o­ne date. Students of Management of Physical Education and Sport, Physiotherapy and Orthotics-Prosthetics, and Physical Education and Sport Combined sit the state Bachelor examination o­n two dates.

The defence of a Bachelor dissertation is part of the state Bachelor examination.

Prescribed order of the parts of the state Masters examination.

Students of Physical Education and Sport, Military Physical Education and Management of Physical Education and Sport sit the state final examination o­n o­ne date.

Students of Secondary School Teaching - Physical Education Combined and Physiotherapy sit the state final examination o­n two dates.

The state final examination is preceded by the defence of a Master's dissertation.

Article 12
Total number of credits for compulsory and compulsorily optional subjects
(to Art. 7, para.8 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

The total number of credits corresponding to all compulsory subjects to complete the various parts of the state examination in study programmes run at the Faculty together with the minimum number of credits for compulsorily optional subjects is not stipulated as being different from the number set out in Art. 7 para. 8 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University.

Article 13
Further conditions for graduating with distinction
(to Art. 7, para.11 of the Study and Examinations Code of the University)

Further conditions for graduating with distinction are not set out.

Part II.
Details of the organisation of study in Bachelor and Masters study programmes

Article 14

Details of the organisation of study in Bachelor and Masters study programmes are governed by the provision issued by the Dean as the Academic Year Timetable

Part III.
Details of the organisation of study in Doctoral study programmes

Article 15

Details of the organisation of study in Doctoral study programmes are governed by a provision issued by the Dean.

Article 16
Temporary Provisions

  1. The rights and obligations of students registered for study at the Faculty for study programmes according to the accreditation in place before this regulation comes into effect are governed by the Rules for the Organisation of Study issued o­n 26th January 2007 and the Study and Examinations Code of Charles University issued at Prague o­n 28th April 2006.

Article 17
Concluding Provisions

  1. This regulation was approved by the Academic Senate of the Faculty o­n 14th May 2008
  2. This regulation becomes valid o­n the date of its approval by the Academic Senate of the University, dated
  3. This regulation comes into effect five days after becoming valid, with the exception of the part o­n the organisation of study, which comes into effect o­n the first day of the 2008/2009 academic year.
